Belonging
2010
In my final year of undergratudate studies in photography, I documented a family pilgrimage to Rabaul to visit what remained of my father’s childhood home for the first time. Rabaul is a beautiful and enigmatic township in the East New Britian province of Papua New Guinea, and bears physical and emotional scars from the devestation of volcanic eruptions, colonial rule, Japanese capture during WWII, and the ghosts of my own family history.
