An Unconvetional Belonging

Just after my 20th birthday, my brothers and I traveled with Dad to Rabaul, which remains the only time we have visited the town where he grew up.

Together we traced important sites of his life before us - much of which was in ruins following the simultaneous eruption of Mt Tavurvur and Mt Vulcan in 1994 (the same year my youngest brother was born).

Dad’s life has been underscored by an intimate connection to the Pacific Islands, and these photographs bear witness to his unconventional belonging.
