The Heat
2011
I met Andrea in a large sharehouse in Meanjin/Brisbane while we were both studying at art school. Andrea was on exchange at the time from her hometown of Durban, South Africa. We quickly became family - having a shared undesrtanding of growing up within the fictious cultures of colonial settlements.
In the summer break of 2011, Andrea invited me to travel home with her to South Africa. This photo-series charts our trip to Cape Town, and the pacifying overlay of colonial luxury that obscured the city, the landscape and our experience.
